Instagram post 2190917041595160007_19689950 As I live far away from my parents, I miss out on a lot of gift exchanging opportunities. Birthdays, anniversaries, a casual thank you or I love you presents. So when I go back home, I try to make up for it. It is not for them but me - it makes me happy, being able to do something for them, to be able to express that I miss them and think about them all the time.
The tricky part, however, is knowing what to buy. Every time I ask Mother India what does she want, she has a standard response, “kuch nahi beta, yaha sab milta hai” (nothing my daughter, we get everything here). Hence, I have to take the executive shopping decision.
I have already started shopping some (mostly online), and really excited to show you some once they start coming in. Nothing too crazy, just somethings I like for them. First up, this winter care set by La Mer for Mother India. I received this as PR package, though I have known La Mer for almost 5 years now. I was introduced to it in one of the spas in Dubai in 2014, and I have experienced their quality and effectiveness first hand. This particular set includes a moisturising cream mask, charcoal masks, rich moisturising cream, Marine Breeze shower gel and tinted lip care. I think it makes for a great gift as everyone needs a little extra skincare love in winters, and a hydrating set works for most skin types in this season. Also, it is silicone free, Paraben free and not tested on animals. So, win win.
As I want to review it as well, maybe I can get Mother India to share her feedback! Beware, she’s brutally honest :D Well, thank you Team La Mer for this festive season greetings and I wish you a fab, sparkly season ahead. #berlinblogger #beautyblogger_de #giftsforher #giftsformom #lamercosmetics #meercare #lamercuxhaven #lamercosmetics #meercare #noanimaltesting #meeresschlick #siliconefree #paraffinfree #parabenfree #ohnetierversuche #withoutanimaltesting #winter #winterhaut #winterskin  #maske #beauty

But this month is extra special, so instead, I will do a number of posts about different kinds of Christmas markets in Berlin. Starting with one for your little ones. On the blog today I have shared five Christmas markets in Berlin that are perfect for a day or evening out with your munchkins. Instagram post 2190151617790202821_19689950 AAJ KA SAWAL / QUESTION OF THE DAY How important is it for a couple to have at least a few couple friends? We are discovering this new territory together and I was thinking about if and why is it important to have other couples as friends. If you are a couple, do you hang out exclusively with couples? Do you have a preference? How does it work? We have met a few couples lately and really enjoyed it. At the same time, I love my friends who are just mine (territorial much?) as well. So wondering how does it work for you guys. Hmm? #growingoldtogether #couplefriends #berlinblogger #shaheenrajan #blogger_de #pakistanigirlingermany #pakistanicouple #noumanzakir #friends #relationships
Instagram post 2190033163514982432_19689950 Good morning folk(ses), kya haal? My trip to Pakistan is coming up and I have got 50 shades of feels. I moved out of Pakistan about six and a half years ago. Ever since, I have been going back at least once a year, and witnessing the city metamorphose into a beloved but empty house. Most of my family is gone, most friends are gone, food scene has changed so much, there are issues, there are solutions, there is freedom, there are curfews preceded by lazy afternoons, and then there is anxiety. It all feels like returning to a lover who I was once intimate with, but then we grew apart. There were no screaming matches or tears shed, just an inevitable distance and loss. Like in those Mills & Boons novels? And that makes me wonder, have I lost the only home I had? Or is it just that I have been away for a little too long and the love will come pouring in as soon as I touch down? I guess I will find out in 10 days :) despite the tremulous feels, I am 100% excited about seeing mother india, daddy and aunty ji (MIL), and can't wait to see their beautiful faces. I don't know if Karachi will still feel like home or not, but I know there will always be a semblance of home where my parents are ❤ So, what's home for you? #berlinblogger #pakistanigirlingermany #shaheenrajan #plussizeblogger #streetstyle #streetstylefashion #streetstyleberlin #words #pakistan #karachi #berlin #dubai #whereishome #whoishome #homeiswhereparentsare #expatlife #expatlifeingermany
Instagram post 2189420792681480687_19689950 Once upon a time, a girl moved to Berlin from Karachi, via Dubai. Food was her jam, and she often dreamt of chicken biryani with lots of masala, boti and aloo. But Germany wasn't having any of that over enthusiasm and soon she settled somewhere in between pasta arabiata and Adana kebab. Then one day, she heard of a food pop-up, selling Nihari and Haleem. Excited beyond words (someone was selling authentic Pakistani food in Berlin!!!), she reached the venue, only to learn that the food had sold out already. In 45 minutes. Saddened, she picked up a döner from a kebab house at the corner and went home. Months later, she learnt that the same lady is now opening her own restaurant, by the name of Mama Shabz. The girl got excited again. She waited a few days after the opening to make sure that there was both place and food when she arrived this time. And there was both, plus nihari and halwa puri on the menu. Chai came with rusks, and jalebis were crispy. The End. @mamashabz #notafoodreview #pakistanifoodinberlin #berlinblogger #loveforallthingspakistani #pakistanigirlingermany #lifestyleblogger #expatlifeingermany #shaheenrajan #plussizeblogger #foodpic #foodblogger_de #lambnihari #halwapuri #chai #jalebi #aloosamosa #peaceandpakora #pakistanifood
Instagram post 2187986368169505580_19689950 One of my favourite things about Christmas is beauty advents calendars. Last year, Mister gifted me L'Occitane’s advent calendar, which I opened all together (I don’t have the patience for a daily reveal - too much for my frail nerves). This year, I haven’t decided on which one I want yet as I have been occupied with moving apartments, but now that things seem to have settled a little bit, I am on a hunt again. I had to look, and sharing today on the blog the ones that made it to my wish list (I have listed them from lowest to highest price). Link is in bio ❤
That's all the work updates from your Beloved Berlin Blogger 😇 Time to shut down that computer and unwind! Hope you all have a fab friday evening! Oh, and if you are getting yourself a beauty Adventskalender this year, do let me know which one in comments below xx #berlinblogger #lifestyleblogger #adventskalender #beautyadventcalendar #beautyblogger
