When it comes to makeup, I am inclined towards bold and dewy. However, I am not a makeup artist and cut crease legit scares me. So another way to boldness for me is via lips. Lipstick, to be precise. And today, on no particular demand, I am sharing 6 of my absolute favourite lip colours, which I have repurchased at least twice. I have also added links and similar colours from different brands (for no benefit of mine). You are welcome folk(ses).

NYX Suede Matte Lipstick Lippenstift Nr.17 – STFU

It’s a matte magenta lipstick, with velvety texture. I love the pop of colour, without it being too bright. Works beautifully against tan skin, and I usually skip eyeliner when wearing this shade. If you do want to line your eyes, opt for under eyes or go for something other than black.

I have yet to find the exact dupe but from the same colour family, I love Masarrat Makeup’s Impulse and The Balm’s Passionate.

MAC Satin Lipstick – Mocha

It’s a nude colour, with a hint of orange (and not brown, as is usually the case with nude colours). It has a creamy texture, satin finish and can be built up for full coverage. While it works okay on its own, I like to use it in combination with a dark brown lipliner for some definition and depth. It’s the perfect colour for daytime and goes really well with smokey eyes too.

Closest dupe I have tried is The Balm’s Meet Matt(e) Hughes Captivating.

MAC Ruby Woo Retro Matte Lipstick

After being on fence for the longest of time, I finally bought MAC’s Ruby Woo last year, and I have only one regret – why did I not buy it sooner! It’s a gorgeous matte red – as pure as they come. It has a long lasting, highly pigmented formula, and I can’t think of a skin tone that it won’t work for. I also like adding a little dark brown eyeshadow on the corner for my lips for some drama. The hype is totally worth it.

It’s such a unique yet universal colour, that I can’t think of a dupe. There are a few that are a shade or two lighter/brighter, and that makes a whole lot of difference when it comes to red.

MAC Ruby Woo is available here.

The Balm Adoring

There was a time when I wanted to wear The Balm Cosmetics’ Adoring ALL THE TIME. The colour is somewhere between burgundy and maroon, and the formula is long lasting and matte. While red requires your skin to be prepped and eyes done, this colour is a pick me up with less than half the effort.

The closest dupe I have used it Masarrat Makeup’s Marilyn Move, though it dries up rather fast and should ideally be worn on moisturised lips.

trend IT UP Ultra Matte Lipstick 420

One of my best drugstore finds. When you want a nude lip, you can either go the pink route or down the brown road. For latter, MAC’s Mocha is your man. For pinkish nude, trend IT UP Lippenstift Ultra Matte Lipstick 420 is my go-to. It’s pale, so needs a little definition. I usually wear it with a lip pencil (like trend IT UP Lippenstift Color Protect Lip Stylo 020 or Maybelline Color Sensational Shaping Lipliner Dusty Rose). Build it up for a deeper colour. So pretty!

Kiko Cosmetics Velvet Passion 333

I love a deep, rich chocolate brown lip, and Kiko’s Velvet Passion 333 is perfect for me. It’s matte, with a creamy formula, and the slightest of sheen (which you can get rid of with a tissue dab or talcum powder trick). Just a heads up – it does transfer, so dabbing it first is a good idea to minimise it. Also, it you have thinner lips, or love precision, apply with a lip lining brush for a flawless shape.

These were my favourite lip colours. Are any of these your favourite too?
