I went to the opening of Selfmade Berlin two weeks ago. I didn’t think such a place could exist in this part of the world, primarily because tailors are both scare and expensive here. But then, Berlin is different, and hence a place replete with fabrics can actually exist.
Selfmade Berlin is a creative space that consists a shop for fabrics and sewing tools, a cafe, and a gallery for workshops and exhibitions.
I love how the store makes it possible for us to make our own clothes, connect with like minded people and learn a life skill. There are workshops for absolute beginners as well as those who know a thing or twenty about the craft. There are also DIY bags, with all the supplies one would need, to create, for example, a bag or a dress or a bracelet.
