This Christopher Street Day marked 50th anniversary of Stonewall protests in 1969 in New York. Coupled with gorgeous weather, streets of Cologne were painted all possible colours. Approximately 1.2 million people (with 148 groups) participated in the parade, where the objective was simple – tolerance and acceptance of sexual diversity.
“Homo-, trans- and biphobia are on the rise again in Germany,” said Cologne Pride spokesman Oliver Lau. This march is less of a carnival and more of a political demonstration.
