Day 1 of Pantene HUM Showcase 2019 left me with a really good feeling about what’s to come in day two and three. And surprisingly, my usually-useless-instinct was right. Day two of showcase had some fabulous fashion moments, with nostalgia woven handloom fabric on Umer and Imrana’s runway, pattern magic by Hussain Rehar, HSY’s glam athleisure and young style quips by Outfitters.
HSY presents HSY Active
HSY Active takes on from ahtleisure and builds on to it with style, versatility and glam. Most pieces can be worn as separates, or together as exhibited, for a no-nonsense dernier cri moment. Also, only HSY can make a collection so seemingly basic work like a charm on the runway.
U&I by Umer and Imrana presents Living Traditions
This is one of my top three favourite collections from Pantene HUM Showcase 2019. Pure handloom fabrics, traditional silhouettes, clever layering, quirky details, summer-appropriate palette, and just a feel good, nostalgia inducing collection. This is one Pantene HUM Showcase debut that will be remembered for a long time.
Outfitters presents Conversations
Holy grail of all that is fast and trendy in Karachi, Outfitters is one of the handful local labels that has an eye on international trends at all times. It makes up for the lack of H&M, Mango and Zara in the country, with their own unique take on street style hits. Their SS’19 collection is a testament and was just that – spot on trendy. Playsuits, colour pops, crop tops, slogan tees, flared denim and trés cool.
Hussain Rehar presents H2O
Pret has a new reign in Pakistan and Rehar is riding it fearlessly. His collection was pure genius, using colours, patterns, silhouettes and fabrics, instead of dated embellishments, to create statements. This lineup is as apt for Khayaban-e-Shahbaz as for streets of Munich and Berlin, and I hope he explores foreign avenues soon. He’s more than worth it, and I do not want to wait for my yearly visit to Pakistan to get my hands on it.
