If I see bridal joras on a Pakistani fashion week’s runway, I automatically switch off. Unless it is Bridal Week, of course. Pakistani fashion designers have long struggled to create ensembles that are beyond the wedding realm, and have time and again plugged in wedding appropriate fashion at prêt-à-porter and RTW showcases.

This alone made Pantene HUM Showcase 2019 a refreshing experience. There were both good and bad fashion exhibits, but at least none that Shazia could wear to her daughter’s valima. It’s is important that you understand that in a market like Pakistan, it is no mean feat, and I think organisers of Pantene HUM Showcase 2019 deserve a pat on the back for firm direction and edit. Another one for a better and more diverse selection of models; I certainly got educated about the new crop of models in the industry. Truly enjoyed Sawaira Sheikh, Ramisha Rafique, Alice Rowland, Mushk Kaleem, and Rehmat Ajmal walk the ramp alongside Fouzia Aman, Sadaf Kanwal and Sunita Marshall.

Now, on to the designers that participated year and were the best from day 1 of Pantene HUM Showcase 2019 :

Zaheer Abbas’s Conceptuellè

9Lines’s POP Kitschry

Zonia Anwaar’ Reverdie

Deepak & Fahad’ Markhor
