Aachener Straße is decked with cute little cafes, which I intend on exploring fully in the near future. The food extravaganza and tour has already began, and it started with lunch at Mad Dogs – Hot Dog Madness.
A cute little place, right on the street, flanked by restaurants on either side. There is a seating inside and outside, with a total capacity of approximately 30 pax. There is a bar style counter to look through the menu and place your order at.
Mad Dogs has a fun concept. They have a range of hot dogs, with specific bread, meat and dressings, but you can 100% customise your meal by choosing any meat and dressing combo. Most hot dogs can be turned into vegetarian meals, so that everyone can have fun.
We ordered a Chill Dog with beef sausage, vegetarian version of Bella Italia, side of sweet potato fries and one drink. Chill Dog was topped with mozzarella sticks, generously sauce-d, with a sprinkle of corn. The meat was deliciously tender, and full fo flavours.
Surprisingly, even the vegetarian sausage was perfectly done and melted in the mouth. It was treated no different than its meat version, and that made me really happy.
Sweet potato fries are a weakness of mine, and I hold a grudge if they are not done right (too soggy, over cooked or charred to the last inch of their lives). Fortunately, soft potato fries are done well at Mad Dogs and I can attest to that.
Service and Value for Money:
The gentleman behind the counter was ever so polite and helpful. He explained the many options that we could choose from, allowed us to run around like monkeys inside the restaurant to take pictures, and served us food in decent time (no endless waiting).
We paid about €18 for two, which seemed perfectly fair to me.
I am going back for their salad bowls (as on keto since yesterday). As soon as I am done with kept, I am going back for the dog and sweet potato fries.
