It is raining and there is a biting chill in the air as I write this. There is very little that can make me get off my couch right now, but in case you are feeling up for some action, here’s what is happening in Cologne in October 2018:
3rd October 2018: The Green Market
The ecological lifestyle market in back at ‘Bumann und Sohn’ in Ehrenfeld, with everything green – including cosmetics, fashion, textiles, food, accessories, entertainment, organic farming, and organic food. The market will be open from 12 to 19, and has an entry fee of 3€.
5th – 12th October 2018: Film Festival Cologne
Catch premieres of award-winning feature films, current series highlights and top-class TV movies during #FFCGN, in cinemas across the city. Numerous national and international guests are expected to introduce their latest productions and conduct discussions about trending topics and issues in the industry.
7th October 2018: Book launch – Das Teemännchen by Heinz Strunk
The musician, actor and writer Heinz Strunk has published his latest book and will be launching it Gloria Theatre. Strunk is a founding member of humorist trio Studio Braun, had his own TV show on VIVA, author to a number of best sellers including Fleisch ist mein Gemüse and Der goldene Handschuh. Entry is tickets and costs €22.70.
12th October 2018: Kuromakupoke turns one
As Kuromakupoke turns one, the infamous Poke restaurant invites you to be the chef for a day and create your own Poke bowl or Ramen soup. You decide exactly what goes in your food, and enjoy a meal adapted to your taste palette.
12th October 2018: Campfire at Kulturkirche
This is one event that we all need – it includes a bonfire. Warmth. Yes! Fortuna has organized a bonfire with a number of acoustic performances, by the likes of Jacky Bastek and Simon Klemp. Entry ticket costs €16.
13th October 2018: Vintage Kilo Sale
Buy vintage fashion for €30/kg. A fabulous variety of brands, styles and sizes, in silk, leather, denim and wool. If nothing catches your fancy (truly not possible though), enjoy the wine, food and music. Entry costs €2 and can be bought online as well.
13th October 2018: Le Tour Belgique
Le Tour Belgique combines shopping, art and music in one evening. Stores remain open until 22:00, indoor concerts and art performances, followed by drinks on the house. Club take over from 23:00 onwards. 19th October 2018: Night of Surprise
One of Europe´s premier venues for jazz and modern music presents another Night of Surprise. The unique free-entry-one-night-festival offers a wild variety of experimental music, ranging from contemporary folk interpretations by Sam Amidon in a premiere with a string quartet from Cologne, Tunisian producer Sofyann Ben Youssef ´s pan-Mahgreb live project Ammar 808 blending ancient and modern styles or bagpipe innovator Erwan Keravec´ traditional pipe quartet presenting a program of 21st century compositions written for this very ensemble. DJ Marcelle, Czajka & Puchacz, Nidia, Mary Ocher, a Sacred Harp Singing, local heroes and an electronic program yet to be announced add up to a mind-boggling night. Entry is free.
21st October 2018: Kinder Disco
What? Children’s disco! Where? In Bumann & Son! With? Healthy food, cool drinks, puppet theaters, giveaways, painting & crafting face painting, Dj Bleibtreuboy and much, much more. For how much? Admission on donation basis. For whom? For families, big kids, little kids and just about anyone.
27th October 2018: Get Addicted is back
After almost three years, GetAddicted is back and ready to party like it’s 2015. Held at Cologne Art Theater, all floors will have their own unique vibe – Main floor will be for romantic swaying with artists like Damned Dan, Thatchai & Maximilian Duske aka Jeff Smart; Keller will be dedicated to hip hop; Lobby is all for rap. Entrance costs €20.60.
31st October 2018: Indie rock with Take Me Out
Celebrating the golden age of Indie rock bands (2001 – 2008), Tsunami Club will dedicate the evening to the very special music genre.
