I don’t really need much to survive summers in Cologne; sun is more than enough. But in case you need some social shazz in your calendar, following are the dates that I would suggest bookmarking:

1st June 2018: Benefit for Konzerte AZ Köln / Lux93

The concert hall is facing eviction by the end of 2018, and in an attempt to save the day (or possibly find a new venue), the management has organised a FEST! All proceeds will be strictly use for survival. It isn’t just charity as there is dancing, fab line-up of DJs, drinks and cake involved. Deets:

2nd & 3rd June 2018: Street Food Festival

Food is important and for two days, Helios37 will be transformed into a culinary oasis. Professional kitchens, food trucks or talented hobby chefs will prepare street food highlights from around the world – including Peru, Syria and Japan. There will also be a play area for children and music for adults. Deets:


You don’t need to buy tickets for any mode of transportation within Cologne! This includes trains, buses and bikes as well. Deets and code for bikes:

3rd June 2018: Cuban experience in Cologne

Havana Club is hosting a day of upcycling workshops, DIYs, screen printing stations (BYO shirt/bag/whatever), live art performances, DJ Qnoe behind the deck and original Cuban drinks at Bumann & SOHN. Deets:

11th June 2018: Watch ‘Call Me by Your Name’ at Open Air Summer Cinema

Catch the award-winning, Oscar nominee at the Open Air Summer Cinema in Cologne. If you have not already seen the film or read the book, Call Me By Your Name depicts the love story of Elio (17) and Oliver (24) who go on to enjoy a forbidden romance. Although you would be forgiven for assuming that this is the type of film you might be able to find on an adult website like, this film is definitely one to watch. With themes of young love, the inevitability of time, and life-changing memories, there is something for everyone to enjoy. The sensual summer romance will be aired at 21:45 and the entry costs 8.50€. Deets:

15th June 2018: Hawaiian restaurant Kuromakupoke opens second location

Known for their delicious bowls and sashimi, Kuromakupoke is set to open its second location in Suedstadt, Cologne. Join the fun to make some ‘Poke in Cologne’. Deets:

15th-17th June 2018: Beer Garden on Rhine Promenade

For the 20th anniversary of the Cologne Bierbörse, Rhine promenade will be transformed into a beer garden for three days. 35 breweries will showcase well-known, exotic and unusual beers from all over the world, parked between the Hohenzollern Bridge and the Bastei. Deets:

16th June 2018: Long night of wine tasting at Helios37

17 exhibitors with some of the finest grape will be at Helios37 for a wine tasting party; the biggest pop-up wine bar in town will also have select food stands.The ticket price of 10€ includes the tasting, the party and a discount coupon. Deets:

23rd June 2018: Germany vs. Sweden World Cup Open Air Screening

Poldi’s, in cooperation withLukas Podolski Foundation, is organising an open air screening for the world cup at Cologne-Weidenpesch racecourse. The screening will be accompanied by live performances of Brings, Kasalla and Cat Ballou, and is expected to attract over 15,000 people. Deets:

24th June 2018: Foodora’s Bites & Vibes Summer Tour

Many of Cologne’s hottest restaurants will be there, so be prepared to eat your heart out. Entry fee is 2€ and the event will be held at Club Bahnhof Ehrenfeld. Deets:

29th June 2018: Gourmet Festival at the Chocolate Museum

100 restaurateurs, winemakers, food trucks, bars and manufacturers from around the world offer international delicacies on the banks of the Rhine Harbor. Deets:
