Shamed for self-loving comes more often from within than from external sources. We are conditioned to listing ourselves at the bottom of a priority list, and mistake self-love with selfishness.
Firstly, you can’t love another unless you love and accept yourself completely. I reflect misery when I am unhappy, and spread smiles when I am content. I champion self-love. Secondly, is being selfish really that bad? Aren’t we already selfish, just shy away from acknowledging it in open. Selfish, if not at the cost of someone else’s welfare, is okay.
I tried beauty box services for the first time in Dubai, with GlamBox. The concept is that curators put together a box with new and popular products from a variety of brands. This gave me an opportunity to try out products and brands that I might not purchase (more out of habit than anything else), and it served as a little treat every month, from me to me.
I rekindled that love affair last month, with My Little Box. Based in Paris, it follows the same format but extends the treats to lifestyle and fashion, along with beauty. I received my first box last month, and it was extra special as it was in collaboration with ASOS.
My package arrived at work, and I created the required fuss to get involve the entire team. What fun are packages without a little drama right? I shared the concept; boys obviously found it ridiculous and girls were mostly intrigued.Typical.
My little box for October included:
- A clutch, in collaboration with ASOS
- A moisturizing hand cream from My Little Beauty
- A face mask from Pure Heals
- An eyeliner of the new ASOS make-up range
- Perfecting primer by Nude by Nature
- Avocado miracle hair mask by My Little Beauty
- A notebook for all your thoughts and inspirations on the go
I haven’t tried all the products but I wanted to share the concept, because sometimes, we need to treat ourselves with a little extra love. And it is a really cute box, with a Parisian flair.
