Who wants to get rid of their blackheads? Like Forever? Definitely me, and pretty much everyone of us!
Generally, my skin is pretty all right. It acts up every now and then with a peel or a zit, but chooses to behave otherwise. Despite the normalcy, I do get icky about those miniature blackheads on my nose. They aren’t ugly or scary, yet, but I do wish to be without them, and hence, I scrub. I have been using St. Ives since childhood (okay, I am exaggerating just a bit). It works wonders and has a very rich consistency. I recommend it to everyone, but using it only when you shower and maximum twice a week.
Anywho. So, besides St. Ives, I got to try two blackheads removing scrubs, and I decided to do a face-off. The opponents are Neutrogena’s Blackhead Eliminating Daily Scrub and Clean& Clear’s Exfoliating Daily Wash.
No matter what the packaging says, do not scrub your face every day. It deprives your skin of natural oils, making it coarse and lackluster over time. If you have exceptionally difficult skin, maybe every other day is good.
Neutrogena’s Blackhead Eliminating Daily Scrub:
About: Neutrogena Visibly Clear Blackhead Scrub gently works to clear out the blackheads and help prevent new ones from forming.
  • It’s tough on gunk that piles up on my skin during the day
  • Leaves skin crisp and clean
  • The grains are really tiny, so they don’t bite your skin
  • Really good for oil control

  • It has a subtle medicated smell
  • A little harsh for my skin
  • Not too tough on blackheads, and led to open pores for me

This product is great for people who have excessively oily skin, and live in humid areas. If you have dry zones, beware. Continuous usage might lead to visibly less blackheads. Might, though.
Clean & Clear’s Exfoliating Daily Wash:
About: Clean & Clear Exfoliating Daily Wash contains gentle micro-beads for effective cleansing.
  • The formula is perfect for my skin – it isn’t too think or runny, just perfect
  • It really cleanses your skin, and leaves it fresh
  • The microbeads are so merciful, and you will barely feel them there
  • It does remove makeup – A big plus!
  • It takes quite some time for it to get to work (i.e. removing blackheads) – so you have to be PATIENT

For my personal use, I might repurchase Clean & Clear’s Exfoliating Daily Wash – but it is certainly not replacing the good ol’ St. Ives Apricot Scrub.
