Badreya, of Bleach, is the only Abaya designer that I have actually followed and appreciate. So when I was told that she is doing her first fashion show at Abbati, I couldn’t miss it.
For those who do not know about Bleach or Badreya, here’s a little introduction to the label:
Bleach is an Emirati lifestyle label that was established to express the many roles of a modern woman – bleaching the boundaries between convention, style and modern practicality. The label is the first of its kind: offering both abayas and abaya-inspired fashion, and looks set to become one of the country’s biggest domestic brands.
Bleach is designed by Emirati designer Badreya Faisal who has spent years living in Italy, Spain and the UK, broadening her skills in all genres of art dear to her, from graphic design to car design. Her designs have ever since been noted for their minimalist, eccentric and innovative style.
Bleach at Abbati:

Using experimental cutting and tailoring and bold detailing, the pieces retain the traditional shapes and conventions of the abaya, yet each has been designed so it can be styled and worn in a way that is as individual as the woman wearing it- whatever her background or culture.
