Today was the inaugural of Fashion Forward – Season 2, at Madinat Arena. It was absolutely amazing, but tiring. Not long – not at all. How did 6 hours disappear, I have no clue. But when I came home, I could feel my arms (from carrying the useless and heavy clutch + magazines) and legs aching. But I shall remain loyal to my passion, and write a quick roundup before I finally call it a day.
I had a lunch to attend, so arrived around 5, in time for a quick peek at the Garden and the Fashion Talk Show – Rise of Fashion Bloggers: Print Vs Digital.
Quite a few accessories’ designers were showcasing their collection, from statement jewelry to embellished jackets and customized clutches. I really liked the clutches by Maria (aren’t they gorg!) and some colorful yet authentic jewelry from a Lebanese designer.
TALK SHOW –
RISE OF FASHION BLOGGERS: PRINT Vs DIGITAL
Paul Tierney, a renowned writer and assistant editor at PonyStep was the mediator between journalism queen, Elain of Grazia and Beautiful blogger Tala Samman. I intend to do a proper feature on the show; for now, just know that it was surprising, and not exactly what I expecting. Sshhh – no more details.

As we were late for the next show, we headed to get some fresh air and chat up at the Fashion Cafe.

TALK SHOW –
DESIGN THING: CREATING BEAUTIFUL SOLUTIONS
Simon, from Parsons, was to deliver a great presentation about the importance of quality design. Despite being very entertaining, it inclined a little towards promoting the design school than educating the audience about design aesthetics. Regardless, it was fun.

ERZA – FASHION SHOW
My, oh my. The man behind the label is an absolute genius, with infallible aesthetics and design sense. There was no dull moment throughout the show, and I enjoyed every single bit of it. From stage to music, backdrop, lighting, styling and choreography, it was an absolute delight. I do plan to do a separate feature on it, and share all of the gorgeous collection showcased.
THE EMPEROR 1688 – FASHION SHOW
Referred to as the anchor of men’s fashion in Dubai, the trio of brother behind the label presented a very “English Collection”. I recently watched a movie, Hysteria, set at the end of 19th century, and the collection on Emperor’s runway had an uncanny resemblance to what I saw in the movie. Demands a separate post, with details and pictures.
There was an after party, but I was beat by then. I had a headache, and I realized I had lost my keys for the apartment. Not a glamorous end to an otherwise remarkable day.
I will be back at the venue tomorrow, at 11, for another fashionable day with Fashion Forward. I post updates throughout the day through Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. Connect with us and get all the insider updates, as they happen.
Till tomorrow darlings.
