Daily Mail, Sunday Star Times and Weekend Press ran stories about the eight year old Harley McVicar frow-ing at New Zealand Fashion Week, bagging the title of youngest fashion blogger. I was instantly intrigued. *puts of the investigative cap*
WHO IS HARLEY MCVICAR?
She is the grand daughter of the founder of New Zealand Fashion Week, is eight years old and accidentally made her modelling debut at two. Daily Mail named said she runs a popular fashion blog; the first post went live on August 12 2015, and can be sited cute at best. A veteran of fashion trade? Amm, I don’t think so.
The Christchurch-born young’un has attended every show since birth and watches from the front row with her grandmother, and founder of the show, Dame Pieter Stewart. She will be attending her ninth show on Monday night in Auckland and said she hopes to get a ‘fizzy drink’ from one of the gift bags to blog about afterward.
‘Harley has always been an amazing little artist – she has been designing fashion since she was two years old,’ McVicar’s mother, Kristen Stewart, told Daily Mail Australia. She ha been working as a backstage make-up artist and has been attending shows for nearly 17 years now.
CLAIM TO FAME
Besides being the granddaughter of an important person, McVicar is also said to have vacationed with Pamela Anderson and Richie Rich.
Her infamous photographs from the front row have made it to NZFW’s website (no mean feat), an accidental runway debut and a couple of dear-diary blogposts.

‘Last time I was in Auckland me and my Mimi (Dame Pieter Stewart) went to Seed and got this furry leopard coat and I’m going to wear it to fashion week,’ Harley told Daily Mail Australia.
‘I’m going to be posting about the goodie bags … I’m going to get out everything that’s in there and if there is a good one I’ll post it on the blog.’
I am all for starting out young, so kudos to the little munchkin for landing firmly on her fashion step.
However, Daily Mail needs to up their news game. No kidding.
